Puerto Rico Holidays

Puerto Rico holidays uncovered - insider tips

Puerto Rico is all about sunshine and fun. So whether you want to chill out on the beach, check out the nightlife or explore the island, check out lowcostholidays.com’s insider tips; you never know, it might come in handy!

Spectacular nights out

Puerto Rico is buzzing in the evening; in fact it is the hotspot for a lively night out on the island with clubs staying open till around 4:30 am. Why not try the popular “Disco Joker” or “Space”? The hive of activity can be found in Centro Comercial. Things don’t normally kick off until around midnight, so you may want to have a disco nap before you head out!

Hidden Gems

If you’re going to do anything on your holiday to Puerto Rico, you have to book a jeep safari to Mount Tejeda. A stunning area completely unspoilt by tourism you will get to witness nature at its finest with reservoirs, alpine forests and rocky peaks. If you’re prepared to pay the 35 Euros for an adult and 25 Euros for a child, we suggest you don’t miss it.

How’s the shopping?

Pretty good actually, there are 3 large shopping malls home to many duty-free shops, clothing stores, boutiques and even fishmongers in Puerto Rico. If you can’t find what you need here, you won’t find it anywhere else. The “Centro Civic” is the largest of the 3 malls and opening hours are from 9:30 am to 10 pm.

Where can I get a burger?

There are plenty of the usual tourist restaurants and fast food outlets, but if you fancy something a bit more up-market, you could try “Caballero de Mar”, “Le Petit Lyonnais”, “Ma Bakers” or “El Bracer”. You can dine on a budget between 5-10 Euros; for a mid-range meal expect to pay 10-15 Euros and exclusive dining could cost anything!!

Get in with the locals...

Going on holiday to a new country can be quite daunting, so here’s some information to remember when you’re on your Puerto Rico holidays:

Can I drink the water?

  • Bottled water is cheap here, so we would suggest you avoid drinking from the tap.

What’s the 999 number?

  • Gran Canaria emergency services can be contacted on 112.

Shall I pack the sun cream?

  • It’s hot all year round so we suggest you slap on the sun cream.

How do I get around?

  • Taxis are cheap and the best way to get around, just make sure you agree a price before you jump in.

Shall I learn the local lingo?

  • The locals seem to have a pretty good grasp of the English language so you don’t really need to learn the lingo.

Do I need to tip?

  • Tipping ranges from 5% to 10%, it's not compulsory but a good sign of appreciation if you’ve had an enjoyable meal.
