Formentera Attractions
Formentera is the little sister of the infamous party island Ibiza, although that doesn’t make it any less fun! We’ve put together a list of tips to help you to make the most of your time on this exciting island.
Formentera beaches:
- The beaches on Formentera are often likened to those of the Caribbean – and you could be there in just two hours and for a much lower price tag! All the beaches are natural and some spread out for miles and miles so there’s plenty of room. You’ll even find a few nudist beaches if that’s your thing
- Playa Illetes is the quintessential ‘caribbean-style’ beach on the island. It can be one of the busiest beaches but you can see why; miles of white sand and turquoise waters make the perfect backdrop for relaxing on Formentera beaches. Plus the fish restaurants are famous in the region
- Visitors looking for something quiet and secluded should head to Playa Levant – also a popular one with nudists
- Playa Es Pujols is also one of the busiest beaches, with a long promenade filled with restaurants and shops. It also offers watersports such as windsurfing and parasailing
Formentera activities:
- Take a boat trip to the small uninhabited island of Espalmador to indulge in a fantastic mud bath. Cover yourself in the warm mud, dry off as you walk back to the beach and then clean up in the cooling sea before heading back to Formentera
- A ‘Hippy market’ is held every Wednesday and Sunday at the Pilar de la Mola, where you can buy handmade gifts and treats and see the artisans at work
- Hire a bicycle and explore the network of cycle tracks all over the island, taking in lagoons, coves, beaches and wild rugged scenery on your holiday in Formentera
- Try snorkelling in the crystal clear waters and see what you discover on your Ibiza holiday
Formentera nightlife:
- Reflecting its hippie past, Formentera has a laid-back nightlife centred on restaurants, bars and street cafes
- Big Sur, near La Savina, is a popular bar; grab a drink in and watch the sun set on your Formentera holidays. At the Blue bar on Migjorn Beach you can enjoy the amazing views over the beach and sea whilst a DJ plays chilled music through the night
- In Es Pujols, younger tourists tend to head to trendy Bananas & Co’s for a few cocktails after 11pm and its late night disco
Other attractions near Formentera:
- Take a ferry over to Ibiza for the day and explore this lively island. If you want, book a hostel in Ibiza Town and sample the nightlife in this world famous party resort before heading back to Formentera the next morning
- Take the kids over to Aguamar Water Park in Playa D’en Bossa on Ibiza for the day. Boats leave every two hours and take just 30 minutes to get to the Playa D’en Bossa; perfect for a family holiday in Formentera
