Lanzarote holidays uncovered - insider tips
Whatever you’re planning for your holiday in Lanzarote, lowcostholidays.com have all the information you’ll need for your time on this Canary Island.
When to Visit
Lanzarote has year round sunshine and a dry climate with hardly any rain. Even in the winter you can enjoy days of 7-8 hours of sunshine that don't dip below 17 degrees. Winter is also a great time to try out some of the watersports on offer as the breeze creates great waves!
Shopping?
You’ll find great shopping in all of Lanzarote’s main resorts, especially Arrecife, the capital. Our favourite shopping spot on Lanzarote is Teguise’s Sunday market with all sorts of crafts and local produce. Buy some local wine and cheese to take home or eat it all yourself and say it got lost in the post.
Days Out
Don’t miss the carnival! No we’re not in Rio, Lanzarote hosts a fantastic carnival procession in late February, which is great fun. There are feast days throughout the year which are also well worth going to, just another opportunity to get a good feed.
Hidden Gems
Lanzarote’s historic windmills are well worth a visit and well off most holiday makers radar. It’s also a great way to see Lanzarote’s lava rock landscape, you can pretend you’re on the moon with some slow motion moon walking, or erm we mean the kids can.
Local Cuisine
Unsurprisingly, there’s plenty of fresh fish on offer in Lanzarote’s restaurants, a local dish to try is ‘Pescado a la sal’, which is fish baked with salt and often served with Lanzarote’s famous wrinkly potatoes, sure they don’t sound too appetising but you’ll have to trust us.
