Matagorda activities:

  • Rent a bicycle or explore the area on foot, perfect if you want to get to know the south coast and find a secluded beach all to yourselves. There are some lovely coastal walks around Matagorda so don’t forget to pack some comfortable shoes so you can see the best views of the island and its coastline
  • Take surfing or windsurfing lessons with one of the local surf schools on the beach. Boat trips are also on offer from the beach, as well as other water activities such as jet skiing and banana boat rides

There are volcanoes and Lanzarote’s famous ‘lunar landscapes’ to explore, as well as plenty to do from hiking and camel riding to coach tours of the park and eating at ‘El Diablo’ restaurant where all the food is cooked from the heat of the neighbouring volcano!
  • The nearby theme park, Rancho Texas Park, will keep the kids entertained all day – and the grown-ups too!
  • Street markets are a great place to grab some lunch or buy some bargain souvenirs or treats and there’s one at Playa Blanca every Wednesday and Saturday, which is a short bus ride away from Matagorda

  • Matagorda hotels often have their own entertainment programmes for guests and many have special kids’ entertainment and clubs
  • For a livelier night out, head to Puerto del Carmen’s famous ‘strip’ which is packed with pubs, bars and nightclubs so you can party all night long on your holiday in Lanzarote
