Puerto Del Carmen Holidays

Puerto Del Carmen holidays uncovered - insider tips

Puerto Del Carmen is an ideal choice for those of you looking to relax and take part in some of the action on a stunning beach. To make the most of your holiday, check out lowcostholidays.com’s insider tips; you never know, it might come in handy!

Spectacular nights out

Head to the “Strip” that runs along the beachfront; this is where you will find the main bulk of the evening entertainment in the resort. Centro Comercial Atlántico is the hub of all the action with the popular “Waikiki Beach Club”, “Paradise Nightclub” and “Charlies” where you can check out live bands. There’s also a casino and plenty of family-orientated entertainment in the shape of the Medieval Banquet, perfect for a family holiday in Puerto Del Carmen.

Hidden Gems

Check out the Yellow Submarine that leaves from Puerto Calero and takes you on a trip beneath the surface to explore the fascinating underwater world. This is definitely an experience not to be missed.

How’s the shopping?

Pretty good actually! Head to the main strip, the Avenida de las Playas where you can walk around the independent shops selling duty-free goods including alcohol, electrical goods, cigarettes and perfume. Make sure you haggle for a bargain though! If you head to the old town area you’ll find a shopping mall with branded clothing stores.

Where can I get a burger?

You will find plenty of fast food restaurants as well as all the usual tourist-type restaurants serving something with chips or pizza in Puerto Del Carmen. For something a bit more atmospheric check out the square by the old port, here you will find a good selection of restaurants, including fish and seafood restaurants. You could hop on a water taxi to Puerto Calero and grab something to eat along the attractive waterfront.

Get in with the locals...

Here’s some information that might come in handy for your Puerto Del Carmen holidays:

  • We think you should stick to bottled water.

What’s the 999 number?

  • Spain’s emergency services can be contacted on 112.

Shall I pack the sun cream?

  • Puerto Del Carmen is hot all year round so don’t forget to liberally apply your high factor sun cream otherwise you’ll end up looking like a lobster.

How do I get around?

  • Hop on a local bus if you want to keep your holiday costs down, or you could hire a taxi, which are quite cheap.

Shall I learn the local lingo?

  • You don’t really need to learn the language as the locals are pretty good at speaking English.

Do I need to tip?

  • Tipping ranges from 5% to 10%, it's not compulsory but we do recommend you tip if you’ve had a good meal.
