Sa Coma holidays uncovered - Insider Tips
Sa Coma can be found on the east coast of Majorca, about 1.5 hours away from Palma airport. It’s a purpose-built resort, grown out of the need for extra accommodation in Majorca and you’ll find that it caters well for the British tourist, which tend to be in the majority. The resort is well populated with hotels, shops, bars and restaurants. Numerous quiet beaches also fill the resorts and shallow pays perfectly accommodate families with young children.
Spectacular nights out
Sa Coma tends to cater for the family market, so you’ll be hard pushed to find a karaoke bar or a foam party. There are some lively nightclubs, but these tend to slow down at about midnight. However, the local party town of Cala Millor is only 5 minutes away by taxi with its selection of vibrant bars and clubs.
Hidden Gems
If you’ve had enough of the beach and need a bit of exercise, then the Golf Paradis is a 54-hole mini golf complex set in lush gardens with waterfalls, palm trees and lakes. Reasonably priced with little waiting time, it’s a good escape for a day or two.
How’s the shopping?
If you want designer shops or artisanal markets and art fairs, then Sa Coma is probably not the place for you. However, there is a good shopping centre where you can browse at leisure and not get hassled. The Caprabo hypermarket is well stocked if you’re on a self-catering break.
Where can I get a burger?
Everywhere!! Snack bars are all over Sa Coma as well as larger restaurants and bars – many of which are run by Brits. Check out JJ’s – a family run restaurant, catering for all ages with a wide and varied menu including a well-regarded burger.
Get in with the locals...
Here’s some information for when you’re on your Sa Coma holidays:
Can I drink the water?
- Water is reportedly ok to drink, but it doesn’t do any harm to stick to bottled water to be on the safe side.
What’s the emergency number?
- Spain emergency services can be contacted on 112.
Shall I pack the sun cream?
- Of course! Like any beach resort, although there’s a breeze, the sun will still burn badly so use a high factor cream, especially on the kids.
How do I get around?
- Cans are probably the best way to travel, but as this is a purpose built resort, there’s not much need to travel for as shops, restaurants and bars are usually within striking distance of the hotels.
Shall I learn the local lingo?
- Not at all – most people either speak English or are English!
Do I need to tip?
- Yes, usually 10%, but check that it hasn’t already been added to the bill.
