Calming La Caleta

You’ll discover a sedate and calming atmosphere throughout your La Caleta holidays, attributed to the charming fishing village heritage of this emerging resort. Located away from the core of the hustle and bustle found on the west coast of Tenerife, La Caleta is somewhat unique in its ethos, reflecting that of an authentic Canarian village, relying on its fishing industry to thrive rather than tourism influx.

You’ll still achieve the typical beach resort treats found throughout the coastal destinations of the Canary Islands, but it would be wise to expect smaller crowds and infrastructure – something which will in fact appeal to many. Around the resort are many upmarket destinations that will offer a little bit more variety, as well as several family friend attractions, allowing you to venture out for a dose of action during your holidays to La Caleta.

Village Charm

Despite its small and exclusive feel, you’ll still find plenty of things to do throughout your holidays in La Caleta, whether spent within the resort itself or in the area surrounding La Caleta. The dramatic coastal scenery around the village is best explored on foot or with a snorkel set adorning your head – the rocky environment makes for fantastic snorkelling conditions. Back on dry land, you can experience the village’s fishing heritage by visiting one of many superb fish restaurants, serving up some of the best seafood on the island. Meanwhile, the nearest beach to the village is in fact a nudist beach, so unless you’re super confident and desperate for an all body tan, you may want to steer clear.

Around La Caleta are a number of attractions found within neighbouring resorts, which will provide you with a few enjoyable day trips during your break. Costa Adeje boasts some lovely beaches and a more built-up feel with its great bars and restaurants, while Playa de la Americas is another vibrant resort to descend upon for a bit more action. If you’d like to head out of Tenerife altogether, you can set foot on the scenically stunning island of La Gomera by catching a ferry across from Los Cristianos, which is in itself a very worthwhile destination to visit.

Playa de las Americas

La Caleta doesn't have any beaches itself so head to nearby Playa de las Americas if you crave sand between your toes and a dip in the ocean. With wonderful water sports, a submarine to explore the ocean floor and fantastic restaurants, what more can you want from a beach holiday? There are regular buses between the two resorts if you don't fancy hiring a car.

The Sheraton La Caleta Hotel is a luxurious hotel with sea views and three restaurants to choose from. There is an on-site shop, children's club and even a spa. This hotel is perfect for couples and families and has loads to do for all ages.

Water Sports

Playa de las Americas is a short trip away, as is Playa Fañabe, both great for sports, and connected by direct links from many of the hotels in La Caleta.

Playa de Diego Hernandez

Popular with naturists, people seeking solace and campers alike, this beach is only accessible by foot, and is a bit of a rough trek. There are never more than two to three dozen people here, so if you want to be alone, brave the walk and you won't be disappointed.
