La Caleta offers the best of both worlds. This traditional Canarian fishing village has excellent seafood restaurants in a relaxed atmosphere and is also close by to Playa de las Americas so you can take advantage of the excellent nightlife.

La Caleta does not have sandy beaches, but it does have some excellent swimming and snorkeling, with deep waters and ladders for easy access to the sea from the rocky coastline. There are small coves with smooth rock faces perfect for sunbathing.
If it is sandy beaches that you are after then the nearby Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos has excellent large beaches with every facility you could wish for from sunbeds to water sports, and promenades lined with shops and restaurants.
Tenerife has beautiful volcanic landscape, golden and black sandy beaches and every kind of restaurant you could wish for. Don't just take the familiar option though, make sure you try some traditional Canarian tapas too.

Wrapped in lush scenery, there are wonderful trails within La Caleta. For the more experienced hiker there is a 13-mile trail, and another that is just over four miles. The coastal routes provide stunning views and you will find plenty of small traditional bars for a cooling drink on the way.

There are so many wonderful places to explore, why would you want to waste time with hotel hassles? So, here are a few of the hotels we love:
Day trips from La Caleta are easy and necessary. With La Caleta being in such a position, venturing to Teide National Park, Playa de las Americas and the rest of the island is easy, Also, many of the hotels have free shuttles to various sites, so take advantage!

Geared towards family holidaying, Playa Fañabe, on Tenerife’s south coast, is a perfect place for those on a budget, or looking for luxury. With wonderful shops, restaurants and hotels, not to mention great water sports at the beaches, this is the ideal beach destination for everyone this summer.
One of the first resorts to be developed in the south, you’ll find a wealth of activities here. Though much of the area is geared towards the younger crowd, with clubs and bars, there are still great beaches for families and many of the excursions are best booked from here.
So close to everything, while being nestled into it’s own peaceful region, La Caleta is the perfect place to stay in Tenerife. So, to make it truly special, here are a few suggestions for hotels:
Within an easy drive’s range, or short taxi ride, to Playa de las Americas and only a few miles from the Teide National Park, La Caleta is the ideal location to explore the rest of the island.
More about the hotels
It is a special thing to find the time to spend a holiday with your significant other, so we’ve got some hotel suggestions to make it a little easier for you.
From La Caleta you are only a single kilometre away from the nearest golf course, which has beautiful sweeping views of the ocean, and Mount Teide. But, if you are looking for some variety, then you are approximately a ten-minute drive from Golf las Americas.
Though the beach in La Caleta is a bit rocky and can have a strong current at times, it is precisely this that makes La Caleta’s beach so appealing. Here you will find the peace and quiet needed to relax, but you are also close to the popular beach of Playa de las Americas.
Boat trips are the way to explore what Tenerife has to offer. With excursions out to see dolphins and whales, you can share a once in a lifetime experience with someone special. Or, take a guided tour around Mount Teide, and see the volcano.

Top Hotels:
The Sheraton La Caleta Resort and Spa is a luxurious hotel with sea views and three restaurants to choose from. There is an on-site shop, children's club and even an on-site spa. This hotel is perfect for couples and families and has loads to do for all ages.
Playa de las Americas is a short trip away, as is Playa Fañabe, both great for sports, and connecting by direct links from many of the hotels in La Caleta.
Popular with naturists, people seeking solace and campers alike, this beach is only accessible by foot, and is a bit of a rough trek. There are never more than 2-3 dozen people, so if you want to be alone, brave the walk and you won’t be disappointed.
