Playa De Las Americas

Playa De Las Americas holidays uncovered - insider tips

Playa De Las Americas has a reputation for being a party resort, but if you’re after more than just the nightlife here, lowcostholidays.com’s insider tips will help you discover your perfect holiday experience.

Spectacular nights out

Where do we start? Make your way to the Patch area where you will find a host of lively bars next door to each other so you can stumble from one bar in to the next and grab some bargain drinks during happy hour. The most popular bars are “Linekers” and “Rags”. There will be a number of reps in the street trying to get you into the clubs and bars in the Starco Centre and Veronicas. For a late night of hedonistic behavior, try “Tramps” or if you’ve got money to burn there are 2 casinos in the resort.

Hidden Gems

Take a step away from the madness and discover the fascinating pyramids on the island; archaeologists have yet to figure out the origin. These 6 pyramids can be found on the east coast of the island in an Ethnographic Park where you will also find a museum, a life sized replica of Heyerdahl's reed ship Kontiki, a cafeteria and a souvenir shop; a definite must see on your holidays in Playa De Las Americas.

How’s the shopping?

There are so many shops in the resort and you won’t be able to stop yourself from checking out the duty-free products. Supermarkets stock all the well known brands, so you can stock up on food and refreshments for self catering and half board holidays. If you’re after some souvenirs and gifts, steer clear of the holiday tat in the shops and check out the market where you can haggle – it does get busy so get there early!

Where can I get a burger?

Where can’t you get a burger in Playa De Las Americas? There are plenty of fast food restaurants along the seafront where you will find a variety of cuisines to suit all tastes. If you’re looking for something a bit more refined, check out “El Molino Blanco”, “Vista Sur” and “Folias”. Why not try the restaurants in the Torviscas area if you want to get away from all the crowds by the seafront?

Get in with the locals...

Here’s some information to remember when you’re on your Playa De Las Americas holidays:

Can I drink the water?

  • It’s not something we recommend, so stick to Bottled water.

What’s the 999 number?

  • Tenerife emergency services can be contacted on 112.

Shall I pack the sun cream?

  • It gets very hot so slap on the sun cream, and stay in the shade in the midday sun.

How do I get around?

  • You should be able to get around by foot but if you can’t be bothered it’s also quite cheap to grab a taxi, just make sure you agree a price before you jump in.

Shall I learn the local lingo?

  • A lot of the locals speak English, so it’s not necessary, but they always appreciate the effort!

Do I need to tip?

  • Tipping ranges from 5% to 10%, it's not compulsory, but a good sign of appreciation if you’ve had an enjoyable meal.
