Location and history:
Located in the heart of Copenhagen, the Tivoli Gardens or better known as simply Tivoli is a famed amusement park and pleasure garden. The park opened in Denmark in August 1843 and is the second oldest amusement park in the world.
From the beginning the garden boasted beautiful attractions including a theatre, cafes, restaurants, stunning flower gardens, a decorative merry go round and a picturesque railway. In 1943 Nazi followers endeavoured to destroy the Park but were unsuccessful as the Danes created temporary buildings to replace those that were burnt and tourists still visited as normal.
Today, Tivoli is known as a beautiful pleasure garden and amusement park. With 120,000 twinkling lamps the garden is a magical place to visit.
