Discover Altinkum

With golden sandy beaches, a dramatic mountainous backdrop and excellent facilities, Altinkum holidays are ideal for family holidays and couples looking for the perfect getaway in the sun.

Situated on the Aegean coast of Turkey, the beach is clean with crystal-clear waters, perfect for a long day of lazing in the sunshine, soaking up the rays on your beach holiday. One of the main attractions of the area are the golden sands and shallow water, making it popular with families. The wide range of water-sport facilities on offer will keep the more adventurous occupied on a beach holiday.

Explore Altinkum

Visit the old fishing village to the west of the resort. Here, you can see the quaint houses, old-style cafés and traditional fishing boats. In contrast, the main resort is modern with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants, ideal for picking up those essential bits of shopping and finding somewhere for lunch or dinner.

If you’re after a bit of retail therapy, then the larger resort of Bodrum is close by, where you can pick up some local jewellery or great leather goods. Just remember to haggle. For an active family holiday, why not take a boat trip to Kusadasi or visit some of the neighbouring islands? You could take the kids to the Pegasus Horse Ranch for a horse-riding trip or head over to the local waterpark – a great way to cool down in the Turkish sunshine.

For a bit of culture, head to the Roman temple at Didim, or visit the ancient ruins of Ephesus. For something different, try a relaxing massage or treatment at one of the Turkish baths or try your hand at scuba diving. Once you’ve finished your day of activities, head to one of the restaurants on the seafront that serve local and international cuisines, with something to suit all tastes and budgets.

Attractions

The name Altinkum actually translates as ‘Golden Sand’, so it is no surprise that there is three long sandy stretches that you can enjoy when you visit. The sea is shallow and azure blue, so it’s ideal for paddling and snorkelling and the sand is invitingly golden. Each beach has modern facilities and plenty of water sports available, perfect for a family beach holiday.

Activities

The beach is the place to head to if you want to top up the tan or swim in the warm seas. If you’d rather do something a bit more active, there are water sports available across the three beaches, from jet skiing and water skiing to banana boating and sailing.

Top Beaches

The main beach in Altinkum is a long sandy stretch that offers a friendly atmosphere and plenty of activities to enjoy both on the water and on the sand. If you’d prefer to relax somewhere with a quieter vibe, head to either end of the resort and you will find beaches that are more isolated and peaceful.

Hotels

The Didim Beach Hotel is great if you want all the facilities and modern entertainment of a first rate hotel that is just steps away from the beach. With a diving school and water sports on offer it’s great for beach based activities. If you’d prefer somewhere more low key, the Aegean Park Aparthotel offers self catered accommodation that is only a short walk to the main beach.
