The desert is only a 30 minute drive from Dubai so it’s easy enough to get to the right location with either a tour guide, on a sand boarding safari or via your own hired 4x4. Once there, it’s a case of getting to the top of the dunes and trying out the drops which can be up to 300 metres high!

There are an abundance of hotels in Dubai, and a holiday in any one of them is going to be incredibly different to anything anywhere else. From the dizzying heights of Burj Khalifa tower through to the desert retreat offered by the Desert Palm hotel - there is something for every extreme. By far the most mesmerising offering is the hotel Atlantis on the Palm Jumeirah. The hotel itself is a bit of a resort, but it’s what’s underneath that’s important. The lost chambers are home to three floors of underground rooms with views out to the Ambassador Lagoon - home to some 65,000 marine animals! The largest water park in the Middle East is also part of the hotel and features an underwater slide which glides you through shark viewing tunnels before finally hitting the lagoon.
