• The borough of Basingstoke contains a wealth of listed buildings, teaming with history. Why not explore The Vyne, a beautiful stately home set in acres of attractive gardens owned by the National Trust.
• Why not take a step back in time and visit the living history museum, Milestones. Find out how people used to work, eat, travel and farm. Staff dress in period costumes and the centre also has a 1950s style café, traditional pub and gift shop. This is a great day out for all the family and an experience not to be missed.
• Wellington Country Park is the perfect location for a family gathering, picnic or BBQ around the 35 acre lake. There is a vast array of woodland to explore with four trails to choose from. One of the trails lets you enjoy the nature of the park and brings you up close and personal with the resident herd of Red and Fallow deer. During the summer months the park hosts over 50 in-house events, so check ahead and enjoy the demonstrations and games.
• The 33 mile long Basingstoke Canal Path is a wonderfully scenic route passing through woodland, heathland, wetland and pasture. We recommend starting at the Basingstoke Canal visitor centre where maps and leaflets are widely available. Why not enjoy the locks, aqueducts, scenic villages and then pop on one of the many trains to return.
