Getting around Banff
Nestled along the north east coast of Scotland, Banff is a town found in Aberdeenshire’s Banff and Buchan area. Overlooking the beautiful Banff Bay, the town looks out over the River Deveron’s estuary, and across to the town of Macduff on the other side.
Banff History
- Banff has a rich history, and this can be explored whilst you are staying in the area. By simply taking a wander across the streets you will notice the beautiful Georgian architecture. One of the most fine examples of this era is in Duff House, a breathtaking classical country mansion built in the 18th century.
- Sitting in seven acres of delightful countryside is Banff Castle, which appears more as though it is a masion house, as the original 12th century castle was destroyed and a house erected in its spot in the mid 1700’s. A truly beautiful spot in Scotland.
Exploring the Great Outdoors
- If you feel like relaxing and feeling at one with the beautiful surrounds, fishing is a popular pastime in the area, and is a lovely way to appreciate both Banff and Macduff from afar. You can take a boat trip from Banff Harbour and Marina, or you can learn to sail with a few lessons on the water.
- If you feel like indulging your artistic side, the Creative Retreat Gardenstown offers art courses in its tranquil studio environment, the perfect getaway activity for someone who is usually surrounded by hustle and bustle.
