East Kilbride Holidays 2012

East Kilbride at a Glance

Found nestled in the West Central Lowlands of Scotland is East Kilbride, one of Scotland’s largest towns that was born from a small village in the late 20th century. Nowadays it is a great place to visit for shopping, dining and nightlife, and it is well positioned for exploring some of the best sights in Scotland.

Exploring East Kilbride

  • There are many different sights to see across the town, allowing visitors to explore the history of the area as well as indulge in some of the cultural aspects of the town. The Hunter House Museum is home to a medical exhibition, inspired by the works of William and John Hunter, two medical pioneers who were born in the area. The National Museum of Rural life is a great place to take children, as it’s a museum and dairy farm that uses 1950’s farming techniques.
  • Langlands Moss is a nature reserve that you can explore from a walkway leading over the grounds. Here you can enjoy sweeping views of the Whitelee Wind Farm in the distance, as well as the many species of wildlife who find their home in the reserve.

Getting Active

  • If you prefer your holidays to be sprinkled with some physical activity, there is plenty to keep you busy in East Kilbride. Besides taking long walks of the surrounding area, you can visit the James Hamilton Heritage Park, where a 16 acre lake gives you ample opportunity to practice some water sports.
