Local Cuisine

Some of Wales' most famous dishes are widespread throughout England but there's nothing that can quite beat the original. Make sure you try Welsh rarebit, shepherd's pie and Roast lamb are all authentic Welsh dishes. Why not wash down your dinner with a locally brewed ale or glass of wine. The list of Welsh breweries is almost endless and depending upon where you are in the country will depend upon which ales are available to you. Make sure you ask the bartender for their recommendations.

Basics

Money:

As Wales is part of the United Kingdom you need to waste time changing money up, all major bank cards work at cash points and shops free of charge but if you do have any concerns its always best to check with your bank or building society

Passports:

As you're not leaving the UK when traveling to Wales having your passport is not essential. However we recommend that you do take your passport with you just in case.

Etiquette:

Welsh culture is extremely similar to our own. They're are no major dos or don't s just greet everyone you meet with a smile and you should be fine!

Language:

Of course the main language of Wales is English so you shouldn't have too many problems understanding the locals. The Welsh language is still in use in the country and most road signs will have both English and Welsh spelling, don't worry though more Welsh people speak English than Welsh.

Getting around:

The easiest way to travel around Wales is by car, if you don't have your own then there are plenty of opportunities to rent one. Alternatively if you're worried about your carbon footprint then Wales has a great train and coach network.
