Marlborough is a pretty market town found in Wiltshire, in the south west of England. A picturesque and charming location, it presents to its visitors the convenience of staying in a town with modern facilities, but with the backdrop of a town of days gone by.

Exploring Marlborough

• Marlborough’s high street is one of the widest found in the whole of Europe, and this is a good place to start if you want to explore the town. Lined with a wealth of little boutiques, cafes and restaurants, it has an individual identity and is somewhere you can find some really individual little gifts.
• Stop off at the Castle and Ball, on the high street, and you will be stepping into an ancient building that has been a welcoming inn since the 15th century. The 17th century Merchant’s House is also found along this street, and is the old home to the silk merchant, which is currently being restored and its interior decorated to the style it would have seen in 1675.
• Walk towards the corner of Kingsbury Street and you will find a lovely little church, which finds its origins in Norman times.

A Social Calendar

• Head to the town during July and you will come across a really cosmopolitan atmosphere, with the International Jazz Festival being held at this time. Foodies will love the town come October, when the food festival brings plenty of different cuisines into town to tantalise the tastebuds.
