Explore Redditch
Redditch is a large English town located on the northeastern border of Worcestershire. The first record of Redditch as a settlement was in 1348 during the outbreak of the black plague. In the 19th century, the town and its people were responsible for the production of 90% of the worlds needles, and in the 60s it became a model for modern new town planning. Redditch also has an impressive list of past and present residents, from Actor and Comedian Rik Mayall who spent his childhood in Redditch, to Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham who was born and raised here.
Nature Reserve
- Redditch is home to the Arrow Valley Country Park, which is situated along the River Arrow. This 900-acre public space also incorporates the 27-acre Arrow Valley Lake, which is a firm favorite of anglers, sailors and birdwatchers alike. It has vast amounts of wildlife, and is a place of tranquility and natural beauty.
Culture
- After a long day of excessive outdoor activity, why not head to the impressive 425 seat Palace Theatre that was built in the Edwardian era. The theatre hosts a wide range of performances from musicals to amateur dramatics, and has recently undergone a £3m refurbishment.
- If you would rather take a trip to the local for some classic English pub grub, then Redditch boasts over 45 pubs, all of which also hostss regular live performances suitable for all different tastes.
