Welcome to Miami:

Miami Beach is without doubt a huge tourist hotspot and one of the most popular destinations in the world for spring break.The Port of Miami is the largest cruise ship port in the world so you can expect to see holidaymakers sunbathing on luxury yachts and pulling in from extravagant cruises. The largest art deco region in the world featured in the 1983 feature film Scarface and the popular TV show Miami vice.

The hot sexy city is a thriving metropolis, a vacation there will help you understand why it has been nicknamed the ‘Magic City'.

Spring Breaks:

From March to April Miami Beach is swarmed with young lively students playing beach volleyball by day and partying hard by night. Head to South Beach, the hotspot where all spring breakers will be hanging out. Bask in the sun, swim in the sea and meet hot young holiday makers to see where all the parties are at in the evening. As known for its dynamic stylish night scene Miami night goers will certainly be dressed to impress.

Bars, nightclubs, comedy clubs and exclusive VIP music scenes thrive with vibrant atmospheres and people out to have fun.

Life’s a Beach:

SoBe AKA South Beach is the southernmost area located in the popular Miami Beach. Truly a partying town that never sleeps; the largest art deco district in the world has spectacular beaches, great Cuban cuisine and a buzzing nightlife.

Haulover Beach Park is one of the most beautiful beaches in South Florida, the pristine white beach, sand dunes and open ocean surf makes for a great location to go surfing as well as swimming. Trained lifeguards protect the entire beach and will inform you of any water or weather dangers. Note this beach does permit nude bathing; it’s the perfect spot to bask in the sun

Restaurants, tennis courts, a golf course and beach fun shops are just a snippet of resources available so you will have plenty to keep you occupied. .

Look out for any danger signs before you get into the sea. Purple flags indicate dangerous marine life while red flags specify strong tides and currents. Portuguese man-of-war jelly fish are prevalent at certain times of the year, a yellow flag with a black jelly fish will warn you of their presence but it’s up to you to be cautious when in the sea. This breed of jellyfish can leave a painful sting if they are touched, if you do get stung remove tentacles using a glove or stick and rinse the area with salt water.

How do I get around?:

Miami is a huge city so exploring it by foot may prove exhausting. A set of your own wheels will come in handy and with an abundance of car hire dealerships; there will be plenty of whips to choose from.

Public Transport is heavily used in Miami as it is quick and reliable; the bus system has more than 63 different routes. It is advised you pick up a bus timetable and map as some routes stop running after rush hours and others do not run over the weekend. The metro rail is a quick and easy mode of transportation, connecting with down town Miami and runs frequently every 15 minutes.

Nightlife:

Boasting some the world’s hottest nightclubs Miami’s legendary nightlife scene attracts party goers from all around the world. South Beach is the place to be for live music, thriving nightclubs and a stylish atmosphere.

While Downtown Miami is starting to rival the famed South Beach, with new emerging hot spots, booming nightclubs and bars, it has become a favourite late night stop for all fun-seekers.

Most hotel bars and sports bars are lenient in regards to dress code but you will need to dress to impress to enter the classy nightclubs. Bouncers can be picky on who they let in, men should remember to pack a pair of black shoes as an old pair of trainers may effect a nightclub entry refusal. Popular drinks include a Cuba Libre and the mojito.

Dining in Miami:

Known for its ethnic diversity, the cuisine of Miami replicates flavours from Latin America and Caribbean culinary traditions. Many of the cities restaurants specialize in local fresh produce such as lobster swordfish and oysters. Whether you’re looking for cheap filling meals or fine Italian cuisine you will find a diverse range of options for every preference and budget in Miami.

Other Useful Tips:

Avoid wearing flashing jewellery and electronics in residential neighbourhoods and get to your destination quickly especially at night. ATM’s are abundant in Miami but check the fee rates with your local bank before you travel as you may be charged for each transaction. Pack your sun protection cream, with a subtropical climate temperatures can reach 90°F so you have a good chance of burning in the sun in Miami. Many people talk Spanish in Miami but English is considered the prefered language so you won’t have any trouble communicating.
