Situated at the confluence of the Missouri and Kansas Rivers, Kansas City sits on the border of these two states. Opposite is Kansas City (Kansas). Noted for its strong Jazz and Blues influences, Kansas City is also famous for its barbecue, the so-called Kansas City-style barbecue. Officially, it has been nicknamed the City of Fountains, paying homage to the 200 fountains dotted around the city. It is also known as the Heart of America, as it is near to the centre of the original 48 states that made up the USA.
