New York City

Statue of Liberty: Visitors will enjoy a walk around the base of the Statue or you can check out the Statue of Liberty Museum when you want to head indoors. During the fall, winter and spring, the Statue of Liberty is open daily from 9am to 5pm, excluding Christmas day. During the summer the opening hours are a little longer, opening hours Monday to Friday are from 8:30am to 6:30pm and at weekends from 8:30am to 6pm. The best you can do moneywise is to buy a ticket from the Statue Cruises, which includes entrance to the monument of the Statue of Liberty. The ferry services are from Battery Park every 30 minutes from 8:30 am and the last one leaves at 4:30pm. The ticket includes visits to Liberty and Ellis Island; so bear in mind that visiting both islands will take you 5 to 6 hours for the full experience. Do not worry about refreshments; there are plenty of cafes to grab a drink or a bite to eat.

Empire State Building: This beautiful Art Deco building looms over 100 stories above Manhattan. Take the lift to the 86th floor and you will find both the observatory and souvenir shops. Step outside for fantastic views of the city, where you can spot the outline of Central Park, as well as many of the famous bridges of New York. A great selection of bar and cafes are located inside on the 86th floor and many shops sell binoculars if you want to get a more close up view of the city. The building opens daily from 8:00am to 2:00am but the last ride in the elevator is at 1:15am.

Times Square New Year: Make sure you plan ahead for your arrival, as the traffic closes just before 6.00pm. Raising and lighting of Times Square takes place at 6:00pm and at 11:59pm the Major and a special guest pushes the button for the countdown.
