Discover Amarillo

  • Your holiday to Amarillo will be surrounded by the opportunity to immerse yourself in the Western American way of life. Visit the Silver Mesa Ranch to have a go at horseback riding, take a trip in a horse drawn wagon and enjoy a cowboy breakfast or dinner. You can experience the cowboy life further if you visit in September, when the Tri-State Fair and Rodeo comes to town, featuring live entertainment, rides and games.

  • Amarillo is a creative town, and you will see evidence of this as you travel across the city and its outskirts on your Amarillo holiday. There is a range of different sculptures to be seen, with the Cadillac Ranch probably being the most famous. Found just outside the city, it consists of ten Cadillacs that have been upended and submerged into the ground. You can even leave your own little mark on this part of the world, as guests are encouraged to spray paint the cars during their visit.

  • Amongst other sculptures you will find is the Ozymandias on the Plains, just south of the city, and the Dynamite Museum, an art project featuring road signs and scattered across the city.

  • If you wish to venture further into the wilderness during your holiday in Amarillo, there are some must see sites just a short drive away. The Palo Duro Canyon is definitely worth seeing, as it is the second largest canyon in the United States. If you head west of the city you will come across places such as Vega, which are eerily quiet ghost towns that sit along the old and now deserted Route 66.
  • Dining and Nightlife in Amarillo

    • No holiday in Amarillo would be complete without trying some hearty Texas cuisine, and this comes in abundance in and around the area. With steak ranches and roadhouse restaurants there is no shortage of home style cooking, you can even try the 72 oz steak challenge in the Big Texan Steak Ranch.

    • South Polk Street and downtown Amarillo offer the best in nightlife, with a range of bars where you can sit and sip a cocktail and some classic American style diners offering beer and entertainment, from country music to pool tables and darts.
